GCU Astronomy Club Education Outreach objectives:
- To grow K-12 student interest and improve their skills in all subjects, but in particular in math and science, using astronomy and space exploration as the principle themes of instruction
- To provide Club members with vocational education and community service opportunities through its partnership with TREC and other organizations
- To promote Grand Canyon University to future collegiate students thinking about where to attend college and whether a STEM degree is right for them
- To create a meaningful way for the Club to fund its goals and objectives
The Outreach methodology:
- Integrates hands-on activities, immersive environments and story-based instruction delivery to create an Immersive Experiential Learning environment
- Requires the skills of students majoring in arts and media, business, education, engineering and science
- Focuses on middle-school students with sufficient reading, math, science and communication skills to have a meaningful impactful educational experience
- Provides enrichment programs to learners of all ages
